OBJECTION: Petition Z26-0015 O'Neill
(E1/A1-E1V/A1V) - Richmond Township
McHenry County Administration Building, Woodstock, IL
The Township Assessor is seeking a zoning variance from the county to run an official government office out of a residential home.
In her official petition, the Assessor claims this variance is necessary because there is "no space in the Township Hall for her office or for her part-time employees."
The Reality: Taxpayers have already funded and completed a professional, ADA-compliant Assessor's office suite at the Richmond Township Hall. The office is ready, fully labeled, and sitting empty while this variance is being requested.
The Petition: Claims "No Space" at Hall.
The Truth: Taxpayer-funded office is built & empty.
The Context: The new Assessor's suite is fully integrated into the Richmond Township Hall facility. (Right side in this image)
How You Can Help
1-MINUTE ACTION ITEM
If you oppose the Assessor using a home office against residential zoning rules—especially when a taxpayer-funded office already exists—please make your voice heard.
Please send a quick email preferably by end of day Friday, April 17th, 2026 so the County has time to compile our objections for the hearing on Tuesday April 21st.
Th sooner the better as the Petitioner also gets notified of the Obections.
If you're reading this over the weekend of April 18-19, you can still send an email and hopefully it will get added.
